What We Believe

"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us." - A.W. Tozer

Core Beliefs

The following are the core beliefs of Grandview Christian Church - WV Based on the foundational truths taught in the bible.  All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

God

God has existed in relationship with himself for all eternity. He is one God in three persons (Trinity); the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. While serving different functions, all three poses equal power and authority.
Genesis 1:1; Genesis 1:26-27; Genesis 3:22; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14

Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is the one and only Son of God. He is completely human but, at the same time, completely God. He lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all men by dying on the cross and in His resurrection He defeated death so that we can have life.
Isaiah 7:14; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1; John 1:14; John 3:16; John 11:25-27; Romans 1:3-4; Romans 8:1-3; 1 Corinthians 15:1-8

Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son of God. He is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ and His presence assures us of our relationship with Christ. He also lives in every believer from the moment of salvation. He convicts people of their sin, God's righteousness, and the coming judgment. He also guides us into all truth, comforts us, gives us spiritual gifts and helps us become more like Christ.
Genesis 1:2; John 14:16-17; John 16:7-13; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 2:12; Ephesians 1:13-14

The Bible

The Bible is God's Word to all people.

Salvation

Salvation is not something that can be purchased or earned. It is a free gift from God provided by Jesus' sacrifice on the cross and is received through faith. It is available to everyone who accepts Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. That faith is expressed through confession, repentance of sin and baptism by immersion for the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.

The Lord's Supper

We follow the example of the early church in weekly participation in the Lord's Supper. Each time we partake of the Lord's supper we remember His death, burial, and resurrection as we wait patiently of our Lord's glorious return.

Eternity

People were created to exist forever. Every person will either exist eternally in union with God in heaven through following Jesus Christ or eternally separated from God in hell due to our refusal to follow Him.
